"Shooting Star" is one of those '80s rock bands that never got the exposure and airplay they deserved (in my opinion.) This compilation has their biggest hits from the '80s and includes a /5(37).

This album and their first, Shooting Star, were staples on FM radio in the Bay Area in the early s. For good reason, they rock out and have catchy hooks. Their star kind of peaked and ebbed at the same time as Triumph, another heavyweight from the early s. Good times, good music. Only Flesh and Blood is an all-time classic/5(48).

Muscular '80s rockers Shooting Star formed in Kansas City late in the s with vocalist/guitarist Van McLain, guitarist Gary West, violin player Charles Waltz, bassist Ron Verlin, and drummer Steve.

Shooting Star initially consisted of Van McLain (guitars, vocals), Bill Guffey (keyboards), Steve Thomas (4) (drums), Ron Verlin (bass), Charles Waltz (violin, keyboards, vocals), and Gary West (lead vocals, guitars, keyboards). Gary West's real name was Gary Hodgden and had previously been in The Beckies.

Touch Me Tonight gathers together material from Midwestern rockers Shooting Star's first four albums (inexplicably and unfortunately ignoring their fifth album, Silent Scream). The band trades in a fairly typical late-'70s/early-'80s mainstream rock sound (think Journey or Kansas). It's hardly distinctive, but Shooting Star manages better than average results.

If you notice that a particular Shooting Star CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site.
